Indie Folk & Existential Soup

2023

On February 20th, I stepped into the studio at Leesta Vall to record 28 lathe-cut singles. Each single was preordered, and the take was recorded live for each person who’d ordered. It was such a cool experience of analog technology. I’d recommend it to anyone passing through NYC. https://leestavall.com/products/lvls2515?variant=44125671915827

On April 5th I made my debut at Jalopy Theatre in Gowanus, Brooklyn, famed for folk and traditional music from all over the world. It was an extra special birthday set, and I finished with an Irish tune, followed by cake and whiskey.

I’ve had an Autoharp for the last several years, and the pandemic inspired me to finally record my own music.  Back in April, during my personal quarantine in New Hampshire, the 2nd song “I Don’t Have” hit me like a ton of bricks. It’s inherently folk music, but with the dark underscore of uncertainty that characterizes living through the COVID-19 pandemic.

I collaborated on recording these songs with my ex-coworker & friend Kevin MacLachlan, who has since relocated to California.  It’s bittersweet, like many interactions these days, but I am so grateful for the opportunity. I look forward to continuing to create and explore music, and making the time and space to do so.

Enjoy.
